Professor Indira Nath, a renowned Indian Immunologist, made significant contributions to the field of immunology and infectious diseases. She earned her M.B.B.S. and M.D. in pathology from AIIMS, followed by a Nuffield Postdoctoral Fellowship in London. Indira Nath's ground-breaking work focused on the immunology of leprosy, leading to insights into the immune response and identification of critical genes. She advanced our understanding of cellular immune responses, nerve damage in leprosy, and diagnostic tools. Her research also contributed to the development of in vitro radiometric assays for screening anti-leprosy drugs. Throughout her career, she held various prestigious positions, including Founder Head of Department of Biotechnology at AIIMS, S N Bose Professor, Dean of Medical School at AIMST (Malaysia), Director of the UK Lepra Research Centre in Hyderabad, and Emeritus Professor at the National Institute of Pathology. Throughout her career, she received numerous awards, including the Padmashri, L'Oreal UNESCO Award, and SS Bhatnagar Award. She was a prominent figure in international scientific committees and was recognized with a lifetime achievement award in biotechnology.

Dr. Manju Ray, a well known Indian scientist, devoted herself mainly on elucidation of metabolic pathways of methylglyoxal, a potent anticancer agent and development of anticancer drug based on it. She obtained her PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Calcutta in 1975. Following her retirement as Senior Professor from the Department of Biological Chemistry at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science in December 2010, Professor Ray became an Emeritus Scientist at Bose Institute. She received the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in 1989 in Biological Sciences and accolades like the Young Scientist Medal, Lifetime Achievement Award, Dr. I.C. Chopra Memorial Award, and Dr. Jnan Chandra Ghosh Memorial Award. Ray delivered lectures worldwide and authored 76 papers in esteemed international journals.

Known for her exceptional work on molecular clusters, quantum simulations, and phase transitions, she made pioneering contributions to path integral methods, quantum effects in chemical systems, and adsorption studies. Her research led to numerous awards, including the prestigious Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in 2009. An accomplished writer with over 90 peer-reviewed articles, she was also a devoted educator, leaving behind an enduring legacy in the field of theoretical chemistry. She was an elected fellow of Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru and Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi and also served as a Member of Editorial Board of many leading journals including Pramana - Journal of Physics; Journal of Chemical Sciences and Physical Chemistry and Chemical Physics.
