You should show the sound differences between using the bar magnet, the individual magnets, and then the metal slugs with the bar magnet

I like the Wiggins humbucker idea, like a Duncan stagmag but I wonder what having one side be bar magnet/screw and the other having individual pole magnets would be like.

Phil, who supplies good replacement bar magnets; what supplier do you use?

That Tele pickup, the last one he showed...the cover on mine is brass and it affects the magnetic field to the strings. I routered the top to expose the top of the pole pieces so the brass wouldn't affect what the string attraction would normally be. The tone change was dramatic.... clear highs, mids and no muffled bottom end. Sounds more like a P-90. Add some gain and it's sweet and clear when picked gently but dive into it a little more and the crunch is perfect, no pedals involved. I love playing bridge and neck on my Tele now. A tone I was seeking and accidently found it. Adjusting pickup height to equal the volume between them is necessary. Neck pickup is a pinch louder.

Thanks for sharing i love watching ppl looking deeper inyo the important questions. πŸ‘
I've used single coils both with the 6 x magnetic rods vertical and a slug+coil with the bar stuck to the back pups. Most of the latter are horrible sounding in my own experience, eg no change in tone characteristics like when either volume or tone up or down =dirty to clean response from the amp. Practically zero responsiveness.
my question is-
Are there slug +coil+ bar on back magnet pups that can sound just as good or better than the well-known, popular because of their performance, not just because of brand name pups?
And the how and the why if its not possible to make a coil in thus way to sound as good as or better?
Using the best materials for the specific application in any era of guitar vintage to modern/modern vintage tones

The Ibanez pickups in their RGMS7 actually have 4 bar magnets per pickup! I was gonna swap the magnet but I don't think that'll be super feasible with how they're designed.

Hey Phil, question about humbckers. Why are some of my humbckers noisier than others? I know they are grounded since they get quieter when I touch the strings. One is able to be coil split. Does that matter? Is it unbalanced winds? Thanks!

I enjoy all your video's!!! Someone commented asking for a tone video, I have always wondered why people use a liner (b) pot for tone? Seems to me you would more control over your tone. Thanks Ron

Does that wiggens pickup have the tonality of the wide range humbucker or is it more about the magnetic compound?
