I always figured it was kinda an accident in 1&2, imagine being a kid, just got brutally murdered, then waking up in a metal body, that'd break an adult, let alone a kid. I always it was them not knowing their own strength and just rushing to an adult to help them, at least in their mind.

Honestly, makes sense. These spirits want peace, so when someone disturbs them, they react. And the puppet has music to soothe her, which explains why she is calm most of the time

This is also proven in the games too, by Phone guy in Fnaf 2. If memory serves, he says something like "They behave around the kids just fine, but whenever they see an adult, they just... stare..."

The only character I think that this misconception actually can be applied to is Michael Afton. The reason for this is because in Sister Location, Mike said that he was attacked because they thought he was William. If we were to applied the logic of the spirits attacking adults that they deemed as threats, then Mike was getting attacked because they thought he was their killer and therefore thought he was a threat.

And also good to note that the Funtimes were the only animatronics (that we know of) that wanted to attack William specifically and planned to - which we know that based off of Michaels dialogue: âThey thought I was youâŚâ as well as Elizabethâs dialogue in the non-canon ending of sister location: âI know it was an accident!â Which would only make sense to say to William, as heâs the only one that knows how Elizabeth died, which, we all know was indeed not an âaccidentâ.
It does leave questions - such as why does Charlotte, arguably the most benevolent character in the series, attack us in FNAF 2 as well as in FNAF 6 as lefty when William was right there? Could argue merely gameplay reasons, but it is weak, but as for FNAF 2 I think the answer is that canonically charlotte was having a nap lmao, and by that I mean the music box was kept winded up, so in terms of canon, my guess is charlotte spent all of FNAF 2 sleeping as when she wasnât, it meant an instant game over and you were unable to stop her.
Other than that, great short again, I do love you uploading these little lore explanations, makes it simple and easy to understand, so keep up the good work and would love to see more, even if itâs just little hypothesis you have for certain elements of the game.

That actually makes sense. I do remember the phone guy in fnaf 2 that talked about how the animatronics are perfectly fine with kids, but are staring at any adults. More evidence to back up this i guess.

This brings a whole new meaning to what the puppet says. "The others are like animals, but I am very aware.
The others are acting like animals and only attack when they think there's a threat like a dog seeing a large stranger approaching might bark and even bite to defend themselves.
