I am a Brazilian-American journalist living in Florida. It is actually because of the ancient believe of Thai people prior to Buddhism. In the past, they believed that menstuation has a power over superstition, so it can decline a casted spell or nullify a black magic. In this case, the city pillar was casted some spell in order to protect the city.
