in the future - u will be able to do some more stuff here,,,!! like pat catgirl- i mean um yeah... for now u can only see others's posts :c
Dark Souls video is currently in the works; I just needed to boot the game back up to grab some footage.
In the meantime, though, I think I'm going to start doing some less produced videos interspersed with the more heavily edited ones. This will keep a steady flow of videos as well (goal is to maybe aim for one short form video a week, but the best laid plans of mice and men).
Given the interest in my mention of the Orthodox schema-nuns in the new “Nosferatu” film, I think I'll give some thoughts on the film, vampiric folklore, and portrayals of Christianity in media in general.

Alright everyone, the winning video of the last poll is in production currently: “Gamifying Faith: Miracles of Dark Souls”
My goal is to get it done for a release next week, but if I'm not able to get time for it, it probably won't be out until the new year as I have another video set for release the day after Christmas
24 - 2
If you haven't seen the announcement video or on Twitter, it was a long labor of love, many hours spent, but I compiled all of Saint Sebastian Dabovich's works into a single volume, finally in print again after over a century! If you're looking for a good spiritual read in preparation for Christmas, you're sure to love it!
Whether Orthodox or just Ortho-curious, there's something in here for everyone from the first American-born Orthodox priest and monk!
If you'd like to pick up a copy or grab one for the Orthodox Christian in your life, you can get it on Amazon here: www.amazon.com/Beacon-Bay-Collected-Sebastian-Fran…
In the meantime, new video should be out this week or early next now that the Saint Sebastian project is finished. Consider this next video a Part II to the Purity Seals video

New video on the way soon, but I'm almost ready to announce a project which I have been working on for a while. I've compiled the works of an American saint, which have been out of print for over a century.
I'm really happy to get these writings back out there, so stay tuned for the official announcement!

Alright everyone, so with the premiere of the Beard of Constantine video today, expect two more to be released before the end of October.
Looking ahead, here are the next set of videos with the scripts written. Cast your vote on which you'd like to see next.
1. Ear of Malchus looks at the scene and significance of Peter cutting off the ear of the high priest's servant during Christ's arrest at the Garden of Gethsemane.
2. In a 10th century lectionary on Mount Sinai, there's a figure titled "Holy Peter" next to the Virgin Mary and Four Evangelists, yet it's not the Apostle Peter, it's a different saint. Yet despite being in such an important place, we know very little about it. We have a place associated with him, but we don't even know where it is either.
3. A deep dive into the pivotal scene in Genesis and Adam's expulsion from the Garden and why it was so important that he not eat from the Tree of Life after the Original Sin.
4. Clerics casting holy magic is nothing new to the fantasy genre and the Dark Souls series is no exception. However, the in-lore explanation for these "miracles" a cleric casts is unique in a way I haven't seen another series do before and how they are differentiated from a magic spell. I look at how the series "gamifies faith" and the interesting parallel it has to real Christian sacramental services.

Alright everyone, here's the upload schedule for the rest of October.
The next three Thursdays will each get a video.
Skipping the poll this time, since I figured the icon video is most appropriate for Halloween, but will have the poll for the next video up afterwards.
27 - 0
Alright, looks like the Beard of Constantine is the clear winner. Will start the edits and should be up in a week or two.
14 - 3
With the latest Purity Seal video out, my goal going forward, now that I'm back in the swing of things, is a regular upload schedule of two videos a month or so. Davinci Resolve is a great program that streamlined a lot of the more tedious editing I was doing.
The next two videos I have the scripts written for are about "Why Constantine has a beard in icons" and "The Ear of Malchus" and the incident in the Garden of Gethsemane during Christ's arrest.
They're both coming out, but would you guys have a preference for which comes first?

Hey everyone!
Currently working on a some videos (have about 7 or 8 scripts written) and should have one out in a week or so. In the meantime, however, someone asked me about the blog I had, and though I'm redesigning my site, I went ahead and threw something together.
As of late, the term media literacy has been thrown around along with complaints about politics in media and the rebuttal of "all art is political." If you'd like to read my primer on the topic while waiting for the next video, check it out here!

Odes, Oddities, and Orthodoxy ☦
Hey there, you may know me online as Gravantus.
I am an Orthodox Christian in America with an interest in Orthodox tradition, folklore (especially the oft forgotten folklore of America), and writing.
The Tabellion is my personal project cataloguing all this. In this project, I hope to:
- Explore an ancient faith in a country where it is still relatively unknown
- Revive the American folkloric tradition and look at what it reveals about the American soul
- Publish and share my own writing projects
- As a liberal arts major, examine media through rarely explored lens of literary analysis, such as through an Orthodox or Christian lens of understanding
I greatly appreciate any and all support I receive and you're all in my prayers.
