Getting the combat moves and AI in for the game, and one of the fun treats of this, is finding out the secret 'tricks' to play good that are in my own design I had no clue about while making.

Like in this gif, turns out best way to pull off the high risk, high reward 'jump attack' - that stuns the enemy if done at the right time - is to dodge the first two jabs as you get into the attack rhythm and then jump at the end.

I don't know, just finding it neat getting good at my own game... I don't know what that says about me, but oh well, is fun.

Well, I worked out how to make a cube Jump in Godot... sooo looks like it's not that alien... I can work with this.

So... about that hip new engine Godot all the cool new devs are using nowadays...
Wonder how long it takes to learn.

Welp... this is 100% a gimmick, but it is going straight into the ragdoll game as a option.

This is done using my webcam, and the free head tracking apps AITrack and Opentrack. They track my head position relative to the webcam, and I use that to mimic my perception onto the camera in Unity to make a virtual window like effect.

I saw some videos from over 12 YEARS AGO!!! Of people experimenting with this, and I wanted to try it myself, and got it working yesterday.

I don't think I've got the FOV and depth settings 100% for the pop out effect, but even just this much has made the ragdoll game feel so much more immersive when I tried it out in that.

Also, hello anyone who is subscribed to me, been a bit since I've done any game dev updates, hope you like it, I well be trying to post more soon, there is... just a lot to cover.

hatgremlin.gumroad.com/l/bird-in-suit-vrchat-avata…

Recently been getting into VRChat, Still mostly doing gamedev and plan to get back into making videos for 2023, but this has been a fun art thing to do on the side.

And on that note, I've made my first avatar, now discoverable and for sale on Gumroad, so as good an excuse as any to promote it here!

Works for Quest and PC, both versions have;

- Poseable hat and tie

- Quick out-of-menu and in-menu colour change

- Controllable facial expressions with left gestures

This being my first time selling an Avatar, any tips would be appreciated - is this the kind of Avatar people would like to see more of? is there anything missing? let me know!

I may try more costumes or different animal heads for the next one, maybe a tie and collar that can be adjusted to look disheveled & add more interaction…? that kind of thing.

Getting back to things after Xmas. Here, I've got the simplest version of a stepping system with the new limbs working on Mac.

Now that I know the basics work, I can go through the older iterations of my humanoid ragdolls and incorporate the functions of their step patterns and managers, to start improving this.
