I look like a caucasian female
but I have the heart and hands
of a djembefola.
The musical flow of language
is sometimes best understood
without words to distract.
I have been playing and teaching djembe and dunun in the Toronto area for over 10 years. Guinea is where I travel to study, to reconnect with that wordless flow of language that we all understand, but so few can express with eloquence.
In witnessing the artistry of the true djembefola in action, one can occasionally catch a numinous glimpse of the human potential to be a transducer of pure joy.
