Hello! My name is Christina and I am a Moscow-based pregnant women and newborn photographer. When I took these photos I wanted to keep as much as possible, to reflect the atmosphere, to capture the state, bump form and the feelings - thoughts and dreams of the mommy-to-be. I admired the perfection of pregnant body and then it occurred to me that this form must be saved as a memorabilia.
I was not satisfied with plaster casts as an end product as they are made by many, but they are not durable. I wanted to create a real family relic and this is how this idea of making vases of baby-bump shapes was born. I asked the mothers-to-be to write an essay on what they love, feel, dream of in this very moment of pregnancy to create a very personalized vase which would describe their mood. As a photographer of newborns I always try to take pictures of the baby in this vase during the first days of life, to show how small the baby is and how comfortable he fits there.
