Composer & Electric Bassist Joshua Young (b.1989, Queens, NY) ) was awarded a full-tuition scholarship to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA at age 17. During his time at Berklee he worked with visiting artists saxophonist Bob Reynolds (John mayer/Brian Blade), trumpeter Rashawn Ross (Dave Matthews Band), drummer Louis Cato (Marcus Miller band), and musical director Tariqh Akoni (Josh Groban). Young has performed as a sideman on live tv w/ top billboard artist Daya (chainsmokers) opening up for Taylor Swift & Jessie J in Times Square, NY. His biggest influence is J.S Bach the master of his highly favored compositional style, counterpoint. Young has composed 2-3 voice fugues as solo works for the electric bass guitar, treating the bass as a choir by playing polyphonic music on a predominantly monophonic instrument. Currently Young has written many string chamber works and is an emerging composer who hopes to create music that is timeless in his lifetime.
