40 years ago today the world was introduced to the hit TV show Miami Vice!
Written by the series creator Anthony Yerkovich and directed by Thomas Carter, the pilot episode premiered on NBC on September 16, 1984, with a two-hour (including commercials) season premiere.
The episode was received well critically, winning two out of three Emmy Awards for which it was nominated.
