In a similar way that the United States designated John Philip Sousa's 1896 composition "The Stars and Stripes Forever" as their National March by an Act of Congress (1987), we would like the Australian Commonwealth Government to declare Alex Lithgow's 1916 composition "March of the ANZACs" as Australia's National March.
Alex Lithgow's "March of the ANZACs," composed during World War I, holds significant historical and cultural value for Australians. It honours the bravery and sacrifices of our soldiers, the ANZACs (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps), who fought valiantly in Gallipoli and other battles. Recognising this march officially would not only pay tribute to our national heritage but also elevate appreciation for the arts in Australia.
Please join me in urging our government to recognise this important piece of music by signing this petition.
