🎥 NEW VIDEO 🎥
A MOTHER & DAUGHTER SAILING TEAM training for the 5,500 nautical mile ocean race from Melbourne, Australia to Osaka, Japan. When Mum asked me if I would co-skipper with her in this double-handed race I of course jumped at the opportunity, who wouldn't say yes to doing such a race event with their Mum?! So, between now and the race start (March 2025) Mum and I need to get to work not only getting the boat ready but ourselves...We entered into the Sydney to Noumea race, this 1060nm race would be a perfect race to kick start our offshore journey. However, a week from the start date, news of the civil war unfolding on the French territory aired, consequently the race was postponed. But with the boat rearing to go and flights already booked, we are reminded of how fortunate we are to be in a position to decide on an alternate offshore sail. Insight is this mountainous spec located in the Tasman Sea, Lord Howe Island. This week we bring you the second instalment of our sailing journey, our first offshore sail as a mother and daughter team, training for the Osaka Cup. We look forward to seeing you over on our latest video 😊https://youtu.be/00N2H9s6AI8

⛵️ NEW UPDATE ⛵️
Hey all! I think I can speak for both of us, that Mum and I were a little shocked to receive the news that the Sydney to Noumea race had been postponed. Postponed by civil unrest and violence which not even the French President could foresee let alone a race committee. Fika had been in full makeover mode in preparation for the 1064 nautical mile race to New Caledonia, mast out for new rigging, hauled out for a fresh coat of antifoul, keel and rudder inspections and new additions were added to the sail wardrobe. After mounds of paperwork had been filed and with the tick of approval that Fika was up to scratch for the Category 1 ocean race, Fika was finally on her way to Sydney for the start line, both Mum and I oblivious to the situation that was unfolding in Noumea when the race committee made the call to postpone the start day. With flights already booked, we began scheming an alternative training sail...you can catch up with the full ordeal in our latest blog post 😊 here www.inheroceanwake.com/blog/-updates/a-change-in-p…
And stay tuned for our next video as we captured all that happened along the way!

Hey guys,
Just wanted to drop by and say thanks so much for all of your enthusiasm towards our Kimberley season, a massive cheers to everyone who liked, commented and subscribed to/or shared our videos around. It all helps to get our videos out there, and we truly appreciate it. We’re now super excited to bring you our fourth season which will see us sailing down the West Coast of Australia. There might be, however, I small break between these seasons as we’re finding with the weather conditions we’re currently experiencing and the number of miles we have to cover, it is quite simply not possible to find the time to consistently squeeze editing into our schedule. Our plan is to make some big sailing jumps towards smoother waters where we can put the brakes on again, and get back into editing. Of course, we always have the cameras in hand so you can rest assured, there is some exciting sailing footage to come! For those of you who want to see it unfold as it does, then consider checking out our Patreon, we will be providing our Patrons with real-time updates as we go, checking in from the middle of the ocean in between this season break. Otherwise, we will see you back on the Tube when we’re looking at ya!

Hey guys!
Soph got a little carried away with editing this week and our next video has come out about 3 times longer than usual...just under an hour long...We wanted to end our Kimberley series with a bang and in a world that's getting brain-fried by Tik Tok, we thought we'd fight the power and bring out a longer-than-usual video 😅 In doing so, it has taken a little bit longer to edit and get ready, but we promise it will be worth the wait when it's ready to go! Start preparing your favourite comfy pants and we'll see you soon, Slim & Soph xx

As we mentioned in last week's video, it's Christmas time! HO HO HO! And we're going to be taking a few weeks off from posting videos, to refresh and unwind from a hectic year of sailing, study and editing. We hope everyone has a lovely Christmas and New Year, eating delicious food and celebrating with loved ones 🥰 We can't wait to see what this next year brings! But in the meantime, don't forget we uploaded an action-packed episode last week, so don't forget to tune in if you missed that 😊 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yi6Ba...
or over this wee break, it could be a great time to catch up on our back catalogue, whatever floats your goat! We just hope everyone is happy and well and you can reflect that this year has been epic, whatever that means to you! Cheers legends, we'll catch you soon 😊

🥳30,000 OF YOU!🥳
Recently we found this photo of us hitting 1k subs, we were so excited, it felt like such a HUGE milestone in this YouTube journey, but it's funny how time passes and your perception of numbers changes. We look back on this photo thinking how cute we were for making up a little sign for such a small number, but we have to remember that hitting that first 1k subs was EVERYTHING, and these small milestones are one of the things that keep us inspired to keep creating videos. During our 1k and less period, we would look in admiration to channels that had 5, 10 or 15k subscribers and would dream of one day being THAT big. Overnight we hit 30k, and we appreciate all of you who have joined us on this journey, but it's funny. Because we are NOW constantly comparing ourselves to channels that have hundreds of thousands of subscribers, it makes us always feel like we still have so far to go. But again, looking at this photo and seeing how excited we were to reach that 1k milestone, we are reminded that 30k IS huge and yet another HUGE milestone in our journey, and we can see how far we have actually come. I think if you told 1k Slim & Soph that there were now 30,000 people watching your videos, they wouldn't believe you. So thank you all, thank you, thank you, thank you for coming along with us, watching us grow, as human beings coming to age, as sailors and as filmmakers. We can't wait to see what the new year brings, hopefully, graduation 😅, but also some more huge milestones! Cheers legends, can't wait to see you for another video this week. Lots of love, Slim & Soph xoxo

Hey all!
We are Just dropping by to let you know that unfortunately, we won’t be able to release a video this week. Uni commitments will be a little tough over the next few weeks, particularly for Soph, who is currently undertaking placement making it a little harder than usual to juggle everything over the next couple of weeks. While we will endeavour to put out an edit whenever we can, we may not be able to make it happen every week… this being one of them 😉
But please know that we are safe and well, just a little snowed under in Uni work right now. Peace and love from the whole crew, and we’ll see you back on the tube before you know it.
Also, we notice that there have been a few new subscribers recently, First of all, Welcome😁🙌⛵️ and, thank you! Maybe now is a great excuse and the perfect time to check out some of our older videos. See how we made our way up Australia’s East Coast traversing the Great Barrier Reef and find out how on earth it is that we ended up here in the extraordinary Kimberly!
In the meantime, we are going to hit the books📚and leave you with this little sneak peek of what’s to come🏝
See you all soon!...if you're lucky

Hey all, we have spent the week putting miles under the keel which makes editing a little challenging. So we've had to postpone our next Kimberley instalment until next week! Sometimes it's a juggle trying to balance good weather windows to make miles with computer work and this week the computer work got put on the back burner so we could make the miles with a perfect weather window! Haha. We look forward to sharing our next video with you next week. It's gonna be a biggie!
Cheers legends, Slim & Soph xoxo (pics from next week's instalment to whet your appetite ;)

Hey all!
We've been absent from YouTube for what feels like months now so we just wanted to drop a line to let you all know that we are alive and well. Things are go go go for us, and without going into too much detail (avoiding spoilers) a few things have come up. Of course, we are eager to make a video explaining everything which we are hoping to get out shortly. So don't forget about us! Because we haven't forgotten about you! (nor are we missing at sea...) 😅
We hope to see you all soon once the dust settles but until then just know that we are ok!
Cheers for everyone's messages, we appreciate you reaching out. And cheers for your patience with us.
Catch you soon,
Slim, Soph & Chilli xoxo

Welcome aboard SV Nakama,
We are Slim & Soph a young Aussie couple tryna get by living aboard our tiny retro sailboat with our cat Chilli. We sail the Australian coastline whilst attending university online and take you with us.
After putting study on the back burner for years as we didn’t want to sacrifice adventure, we thought why not have both? Fed up with the outrageous rental prices in our hometown, the idea of doing it afloat came to mind. We figured we could scrape by on our tight student budget if we stopped paying way too much rent and lived minimally on the ocean, whilst continuing our passion for adventure. The plan for now, is to keep sailing onwards, keeping Australia to our left and once we're done doing that...Who knows.
Our mission is to prove that anyone can do it, you don’t need the fanciest boat or a squillion bucks, just a whole lot of ambition and a willingness to make mistakes and learn.
So join us on this whacky adventure!
Slim & Soph xoxo
