In 2020, JFX Lab became Slab Note, a full-fledged label dedicated to all facets of techno, breaking away from its parent company Jarring Effects.
In the language of surfing, "slab wave" means a mutating wave. And yes, Slab Note is committed to producing sonic tidal waves from which you will not emerge unscathed. A wave is a sea. In Germanic-Nordic myths, water is born from the violent encounter of fire and ice.
This idea of contrast, of oxymoron, qualifies the label which produces and promotes cold and dark textures, hard rhythms, but also warmer and more modular sounds.
