Hi everyone! This is Parkside, main dude at Hidden Pony and the drummer for The HP's! I happen to love soul music , specifically soul music from the 50's and 60's. I grew up loving James Brown and even co-managed "The J.B.'s" for some time a few years ago. I decided I wanted to play again and started "The H.P.'s" as an homage to my love of the genre and soul/funk music. We're hoping to release the first track in January 2022 and hope you'll come along for a funky good time. I love chatting old soul music so send along any suggestions you have of tracks we should eithee cover or that you just want to shout out. Peace and happiness, Parkside

The group name, The H.P.’s, pays homage to James Brown’s legendary band, The J.B.’s, with these initials referencing Hidden Pony. The album title is a tribute to Renaud’s hometown, Hamilton, and The H.P.’s sound honours The Hammer’s core characteristics of grit and authenticity.
Gritty City Soul, Vol. 1 is a masterfully curated collection of covers and original compositions. The H.P.’s breathe new life into tunes by both genre masters (Allen Toussaint, Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings) and such lesser-known artists as Nat Turner Rebellion, Syl Johnson, and Darondo).
