Luso Baião is a band that stems from the influences of two brotherly countries – Brazil and Portugal. The group is made up of Brazilian and Portuguese musicians and was formed in Lisbon, in March, 2013, to celebrate Portugal and Brazil´s musical heritage.
Brazilian music legends such as Luiz Gonzaga, Dominguinhos, Jackson do Pandeiro and Gilberto Gil are Luso Baião´s main influences, however the band´s repertoire also includes reinterpretations of Portuguese singers and instrumentalists such as Sergio Godinho and Rão Kyao. Luso Baião´s songs display a clear touch of originality as they fuse well-known Forró rhythms (Xote, Xaxado, Arrasta-Pé and Baião – rhythms that stem from the merger between Fado and Maracatu), with Reggae, Rock, Samba, and Côco.
Luso Baião consists of Cícero Mateus (vocals and guitar), Betinho Mateus (vocals, triangle and percussion), Enrique Matos (bass drum and backing vocals), and Ivo Dias (bass guitar and backing vocals).
