Such a beautiful, old VW Golf. I have to say that the orange tone to the darker aftermarket headlights look quite good on this car. It's a shame that it's not for sale or I would've bought it immediately and add to my collection

Why I would never get an EV or new car and instead I would rather buy an old Mercedes?
It's rather simple...
Back in the days the cars were really reliable, were quite simple to fix and built to last. The best thing was that the older cars were also way easier to fix and in my opinion look better and more classy nowadays.
With the the EV's the main problem is the battery which has lower range during very cold weather, I'm way inpatient to wait 20-40min. for it to charge, the battery is gone after 10 years and replacement costs quite a lot and during even a small accident the insurance mostly total them since they don't know if the battery pack got damaged during impact. Sure, for a short distance to work there are benefits to own a EV but only with leasing contract.
However, nowadays even the quality of Diesel/Gasoline powered cars dropped, even ones from Mercedes, dropped quite badly.
Hehe, I could also mention Ford with their terrible Ecoboost engines but I don't want to upset the Americans since there was no demand from them for such a trashy engine.
Personally I don't really need Car Play or Android Auto.
I rather listen to music through a Bluetooth cassette adapter or to actual cassettes with hits from 80, 90s and 2000s. If I need to drive somewhere, I can also use my phone and Waze app. And this is one of the many justifications for me to not buy a new car.
I had a very great experience with the Mercedes W124 and W201. Those are very good cars and the W201 equipped with a Diesel engine can last for quite long.
In my personal experience for over 1.400.000km on factory engine and maybe even 2.000.000km if you maintain it properly.
Two years ago this model in the first photo got 1.275.651km mileage and it still has the factory engine in it. After so many years, this car has been very reliable and as you see here, it doesn't have any corrosion except for the exhaust pipe but this can be easily replaced.
But my favorites are the W140 S Class which is probably built from WW2 Tanks since the body is as strong as a tank unless someone already messed around with it and the W124 E Class but only with 250D/300D engines and a manual gearbox.
Well, unfortunately the S Class and E Class mentioned above are still quite expensive and even my dream car, the Mercedes W114, is as expensive as a new VW Golf in my country.
Maybe some day I'll find a very well preserved model with some small things to repair but I would have to search the Internet for one every single day.
But hey, it's not impossible to win a lottery and import one from another country outside of the EU 😉
