Life and sport are both about conquering the odds stacked against you...
Fairness is not really the essence of sport, so one should get accustomed to unfairness in life, and accept injustice in one's favour with gratitude and humility.
However, winning through surmounting seemingly impossible obstacles makes for good sport, just as does losing with grace and dignity.
A poem I composed in 2006 entitled 'Hear the Howling of the Wind'.
Pretty apt for this period in human history, don't you think?
Hear the howling of the wind
The storm beckons me in
Life is a blooming flower
But patience, like a lie, wears thin.
Roses cry hauntingly, tears of falling petals
Echoing the impending turmoil
Presaging future battles,
The kettle of life is brought to boil.
Hear the howling of the wind
The world is steeped in sin.
Who opened the bleeding door,
To let the timeless demon in?
