Always in the forefront in American Heritage, American Patronage and in supporting the American Fight for Freedom, Chevrolet is a bigger part of American history than most remember.
From 1937-1945, during WWII, Chevrolet was deeply involved in the effort to preserve our freedom. In 1941 Chevrolet produced 75mm high-explosive shells and shooting parts for a 90mm anti-aircraft gun capable of firing a projectile 5 miles. Chevrolet also manufactured the highly complicated Pratt & Whitney aircraft engines used on long-range bombers for their attacks in Germany. On January 30, 1942, the production of civilian vehicles came to a complete stop so that all of Chevrolet’s recourses could be put toward supporting our American troops in their effort to defend freedom for all of us. It would be four more years before a new Chevrolet would be produced for the civilian population. We thank Chevrolet for their contribution towards victory and the defense of our freedom.
