The PCT permit date quickly approaches. Along with posting videos about planning, preparations, the shake down trip using my Big 3,(tent, sleep system and pack) I am also going to be documenting how I am doing on a more personal level, the inner ride, think reflections and thoughts over on the Trek blog, along with my daily mileage stats. My first post was published today, read it here: thetrek.co/pacific-crest-trail/planning-paralysis-…

Make sure you subscribe over there if you also enjoy that medium, where you will continue to get updates from me out on the trail utilizing the written word as I share my struggles, aha moments, emotions, insights, and reflections. While the channel here will focus more on the outer journey and what I would have appreciated knowing before I headed out! ;)

Happy Trails!

I have been getting myself ready to embark on the longest thru hike I have ever attempted. I will be thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail this spring/summer 2024. I have been filming training videos, my gear setup, food preparation/ resupply boxes and my planning processes. In your 50's there are some unique differences in my gear and choices.

I am hoping to get these prep videos edited and up on the channel as I can. However you can look forward to regular hike updates and vlogs during the journey from the Mexico border to the Canadian border. #PCT 2024 #thru-hike #hiking

Future video update- second in a series of haunted trail investigations.
It was a long drive both to and from this amazingly scenic hike. Just before pulling into the trailhead area we came upon a pretty bad crash scene. EMS had already arrived, and traffic was being routed around. I said a silent prayer for those involved. It didn't cross my mind until this writting, perhaps our seemingly coincidental timing was an omen.
On trail I could definitely sense and feel the areas that have both residual and active paranormal activity.
I can not even begin to explain how many equipment tech malfunctions we experienced - the kind typical of outright haunted investigations. Fully charged batteries unexplicably drained. You name it, it happened- ALL on this investigation. 🤔
This may call for another trip to recapture and further investigate, but I hope not. As beautiful as it was their was also a heavy, anxious feeling underlying the quiet. A feeling that I am not looking forward to connecting with again, anytime soon.
What is abundantly clear is there are spirits. Some wanting their stories to be shared and those chillingly who try to ensure they are silenced. ~

I love doing historical research on the trails I plan on filming for my Youtube channel!
So many cool findings, synchronicities and coincidences.
When I was in Dupont, Wa I learned about the dynamite train that had formed the Sequalitchew trail. When I was in Mexico, I explored the Bay of the dead trail which I noticed outside of a restaurant we were grabbing a bite to eat at. I was intrigued by an old foundation of some type of building and the worn stone wharf that had fallen to disrepair. Doing research after filming the bay trail I found a museum that had a the history of the large mine operations and smelter. On visiting that museum my sister spotted the wooden dynamite boxes taken from the El Triunfo Mining Company, they were stamped with the Dupont Company logo!
Then while on Bainbridge Island, I explored the Cemetery trail which led me to learn about the mills and the absolute boom of the logging industry and the largest maritime disaster in WA state still to this day. The same logging boom left many areas of the PNW, not just Bainbridge Island with large portions if forest clear cut. So much so that a forest was acquired just for the reason of better managing WA state forest resources. As both a place to showcase the latest forestry practices and form a school dedicated to forestry management practices. Now a leader of cutting edge sustainable forestry practices in the PNW, known as the Pac forest.
Currently I've been doing research for my next trail adventure, and so excited to see where this one leads me and what secrets it will reveal! I can tell you there is some creepy stories associated and it will be my first hike that purposely will be in the dark...so stay tuned! Yay for hiking season!
