Thariqah Qadiriyah Naqsbandiyah is a combination of two large orders, namely Thariqah Qadiriyah and Thariqah Naqsbandiyah. The founder of this new order was a Sufi Shaykh of the Al-Haram Mosque in Makkah al-Mukarramah named Shaykh Ahmad Khatib Ibn Abd. Ghaffar al-Sambasi al-Jawi (d. 1878 AD). He was a great scholar from Indonesia who lived until the end of his life in Mecca. Shaikh Ahmad Khatib is a murshid of the Thariqah Qadiriyah, as well as being a murshid in the Thariqah Naqsabandiyah. But he only mentioned the lineage of his congregation from the Tariqah Qadiriyah sanad. Until now it has not been found for certain from which sanad he received the Thariqah Naqsabandiyah allegiance. There are at least four main teachings in this order, namely: about the perfection of suluk, about adab (ethics), about dhikr, and about murakabah.
