Talk Like a Mainer: Just a guy from Downeast Maine who loves languages and accents. Started making these videos for my students, but I'm not teaching anymore, so who the heck knows why I still want to make them. There are lots of ways to talk like a Mainer and to be a Mainer. The expressions I share here are just a glimpse into the way a lot more people from Maine used to speak. They’re fading, but I hope they won’t die out. TV and film tend to have a homogenizing effect on language, accents, culture, but it doesn’t have to be that way. They can celebrate the rich and diverse cultures we have here in Maine and elswehere.
