Got to play a song at the Old Marshall Jail the other day (to help raise awareness and hopefully funds for post Helene recovery) and saw Josh Copus - I’ve been thinking about Marshall NC and Josh every day and the community they have there. It was incredibly heavy to drive into downtown Marshall and see in person the destruction that Hurricane Helene caused. I didn’t know if I’d be able to sing without crying. I’ve been riding the line between ok and really not ok since the storm- like right on the line. But talking to Josh - he told me this isn’t a story of defeat- it’s a story of perseverance and of love and rebirth. I heard that and I’ve started to feel it a little too. I played “fires” for them which says “and now I’m trying to be the phoenix”. I’m trying. Josh is a light out there. We also realized that hugs seem to have gotten better and more meaningful lately around WNC- try it ❤️

Good morning from Western North Carolina- Today is the release of the deluxe version of New Lost Ages, featuring two extra songs from my time recording with Phil Ek. Listen to it here: tylerramsey.fanlink.tv/TRNLAd
Most of these songs, and a lot of the songs that I write, are about making my way through dark and difficult times and seeing what light there is on the other side. This theme reveals itself to me over and over and I write about it and watch it play out around me and in my life. We here in North Carolina have weathered an unimaginable storm- and have come out now on the other side- but not all of us. And the sun is out this morning- but sometimes it’s not easy to feel it or see it. I have a heavy feeling in my chest for the loss that so many have experienced here following Hurricane Helene. But I’m also seeing the light. In the strength of my community and the outreach of so many around us. And mostly in the love and the care people are showing each other. There is a simple and subtle shift in the way people are interacting here. A kindness. I hope we can keep part of that as we walk out here on the other side of the storm.

Via @parkway.sessions : It’s been a heavy, chaotic, hard-to-process few weeks to say the least. Before the storm, we were prepped and ready to release Tyler Ramsey’s Parkway Session into the world. None of us could have ever imagined what we were in for. The one thing we do know is that music heals. And our artistic community deserves all of the support it can get right now. We are very excited to announce the release of our brand new Parkway Session with Tyler Ramsey performing “These Ghosts” at Parkway Studios on the French Broad River, recorded only a couple of months ago. We hope this brings you much needed joy and peace as we continue to honor the musical talent that comes out of these mountains. Check out the full video!

I have a live song on this huge WNC hurricane relief benefit compilation "Cardinals at the Window" that just came out on Bandcamp. It was recorded for a Parkway Session in Asheville this past August.
The compilation is 130+ artists/songs for $10 or however much you want to donate. Please buy & share it! 100% of proceeds will be split evenly between Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, Rural Organizing and Resilience (ROAR), & BeLoved Asheville, all mutual aid organizations with boots on the ground here in WNC.
