I'm sharing the progress of my first Unity project, called TykeAI, for Meta Quest 3, featuring an AI powered NPC in mixed reality (MR) with Unity AI Navigation, Meta Scene API, and AI/LLM integration, dedicated to my late dog Tyke (Apr 2005 - Jan 2024).
I started this project in Nov 2023 and without fully realizing it at the time, it stemmed from anticipating the loss of Tyke as I was seeking to recreate the companionship I was about to lose.
I'm fascinated by AI and MR, and movies like 'Her' and 'Blade Runner 2049', my own preference is that I see the NPC as a companion/friend rather than a partner. This was initially a personal project, the positive feedback has inspired me to develop it into an app for others in addition to myself.
