In the past 21-years, the female group has taken maskandi to another level. The band has emerged as a force to be reckoned with in the African traditional music.

Having distinguished itself with albums sales, sound, popularity and accolades, Izingane Zoma has earned a title as the “queens of maskandi music” in South Africa.The group hails from Kwa-Zulu-Natal, one of the provinces that are richly blessed with talented musicians in South Africa. Since the group came into the music scene, it has impressively stood its ground in the male monopolised maskandi genre and made a huge impression locally and internationally.

The group is made up of Thandoluni Phungula lead vocals , Bongekile Ngobese (vocals) and Xoli Buthelezi (vocals). But the three ladies would have not managed to thrive without the backing support of Mayise brothers; Busani and Shobeni as well as Mqapheleni Magubane who are the brains behind the composing and producing of the music.
