The Vienna Symphonic Library is a music software and orchestral sample library developer based in Vienna, Austria.
The company, founded in 2000 by the former cello player and film director Herb Tucmandl, is the world's largest sample developer with more than 1.5 million published samples in the categories of strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, keyboards, voices, and more, ranging from solo instruments (e.g., Solo Strings) to medium size (e.g., Chamber Strings) and large ensembles (e.g., Appassionata Strings, Epic Horns), and even instruments such as distorted guitar, upright bass and jazz drums.
