Can you tell the difference between a danyangju (single-stage brew) and an iyangju (two-stage brew) by looking at it?

Thanks for all your guesses! The answer is gouqi (“Chinese wolfberry”) also called goji berry. These dried red berries look more orange when soaked.

My hobby is making makgeolli at home.
Makgeolli is Korean "farmer's alcohol" made from rice. It is delicious!
I also enjoy making other kinds of rustic Asian rice wine. It's easy to get started, but there is so much to explore.
