Apologies for the late warning today, but there will be a new video available for those with too much time on their hands at 17.30 UK time!!

Glad to say that I have managed to upload the video - but sadly only to my usual low level of professionalism! A lovely new Conway Stewart pen, and ideal as a daily carry. Hope you like it.

Meanwhile, I am pleased to be able to say that I have been signed up by Boldwood, a new publisher, which has signed me up for eleven books - a series based on my vintener series, more based on the Holy Wars, as well as a new Templar series story! It's going to involve a lot of hard work, but it's brilliant news. Any questions? Add as a comment or contact me via email.

This is a short apology - we have builders in just now, which means that there is a lot of noise, dirt and inability to record without a lot of background noise! I will upload what I can later, but apologies if the quality is not as good as usual!

Second update on the accuracy of the Sinocare iCan i3: On the first full day I've been impressed by the accuracy. It has pretty much mapped the Agamatrix - a good sign!

Yesterday I took three Agamatrix results:

08.23 6.5mmol Before breakfast - had yoghurt, nuts and a little stewed apple
15.02 8.0mmol After lunch - soup and a 20g slice of sourdough toast
19.20 7.0mmol After supper - omelette with swede chips

Sinocare results at the same times:

08.12 6.6mmol
15.00 8.4mmol
19.18 7.0mmol

It has to be said that it's not so easy to get to a specific time on the Sinocare. The graphical displays are very good - I particularly like the one which allows you to compare specific dates and see how the sugars rose or fell. What this is telling me is, that the Sinocare is as accurate, certainly, as I would need, and probably is good enough for anyone. Still, there are another 13 days to go with this first trial!
Example graphs below.

Hi, all, and this is a short comment on the video this afternoon - I've been sent a couple of these Sinocare iCan i3 continual glucose monitoring devices. I have tried a few CGM devices in the past, and they certainly do make life a great deal easier. As things stand, it appears to be functioning well after 24 hours. Yesterday I checked it against my Agamatrix blood tester, and the results were:

Agamatrix results:
7.7 at 9.00 am no meal
7.2 at 1.00 pm just after eating soup
9.1 at 1.42 pm at the highest point after meal
7.8 at 8.00 pm after supper

all looking good. Using the iCan i3:
7.0 at 12.30 before meal
9.6 at 1.45 hour after meal
7.0 at 8.00 after supper

Initial thoughts are, it's important to recognise that there is always going to be a brief lag in time between the blood measurement, and the phone receiving that measurement on a CGM. However, it's good to see that the figures seem to rise and sink roughly in sync. There is a discrepancy between the finger-stabbed results and the CGM, but I have seen variation with different test strips in the past, when I have tested myself twice and received significant variations in measurements. It is not possible to trust any one machine entirely.

This evening you'll see a new video showing how to install these devices - if you're interested!

Hi, all,
Apologies to those keen on the Diabetic Witterings - I am absolutely snowed under with work just now, and I'm going to have to miss today's update. All I will say is, that the blood tests I had last week showed that ... yup - I'm still apparently good, and the sugars are perfectly acceptably low, which is a great relief, obviously.
Still, more to come next week, hopefully.
Keep safe and healthy!
Mike

Whoops! An apology. To my surprise, I've just seen that the video I set up yesterday ready to go live today at the usual time ... is already up! No idea what happened there, but I assume this was standard novelist's brain fade or general old fart stupidity!
Sorry for that, but I hope you like the video anyway!

Many thanks for all the good wishes - I am glad to say that my eyes are improving and the next operation has been put back to once every ten weeks!

And now I have a serious question to ask: I have been thinking about adding videos about sketching and watercolouring. After my last video showing my tiny Portable Painter palette, I have had several questions about the paints I use, the paper, and other aspects of painting. Would you like more videos about painting? I am keen to make more, simply because it will force me to get out and painting more, but obviously I don't want to deprive people of their Jecks pen and paper fix!

Apologies but once more I'll have to miss the launch of the video this afternoon (which I hope you will all enjoy) - I have to go back to hospital for the latest eye injections this afternoon, and won't be back in time.
