South Korea Plane Crash: At Least 96 Dead
On December 29, 2024, Jeju Air Flight 7C2216, a Boeing 737-800, crashed during its landing at Muan International Airport in South Korea, resulting in at least 96 fatalities. The flight, originating from Bangkok, Thailand, was carrying 175 passengers and 6 crew members. Preliminary investigations suggest that the aircraft's front landing gear failed to deploy, causing it to veer off the runway and collide with a concrete barrier, leading to a catastrophic fire.

This incident marks South Korea's deadliest air accident in nearly three decades, surpassing the 1997 Korean Air Flight 801 crash in Guam, which claimed 228 lives.

The two survivors, both flight attendants, sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.

Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the landing gear failure. Initial reports suggest that a bird strike may have contributed to the malfunction.

In response to the tragedy, Jeju Air has expressed condolences to the victims' families and is fully cooperating with the investigation. The South Korean government has mobilized all available resources to address the crisis and support the affected families.

This devastating event underscores the critical importance of rigorous safety protocols and rapid response measures in the aviation industry to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Paris, France's capital, is a major European city and a global center for art, fashion, gastronomy and culture. Its 19th-century cityscape is crisscrossed by wide boulevards and the River Seine. Beyond such landmarks as the Eiffel Tower and the 12th-century, Gothic Notre-Dame cathedral, the city is known for its cafe culture and designer boutiques along the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré.

Eiffle Tower

When the tower opened in the 19th century, it was the world's tallest building at 1,024 feet (312.11 meters). The Eiffel Tower has 1,665 stairs and three viewing platforms. Nearly 50 miles of electric cables cover the structure. There are 120 antennas atop the Eiffel Tower.

The Arc de Triomphe

Often called simply the Arc de Triomphe, is one of the most famous monuments in Paris, France, standing at the western end of the Champs-Élysées at the centre of Place Charles de Gaulle, formerly named Place de l'Étoile—the étoile or "star" of the juncture formed by its twelve radiating avenues. The location of the arc and the plaza is shared between three arrondissements, 16th (south and west), 17th (north), and 8th (east). The Arc de Triomphe honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Beneath its vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I.
