Oh may we have beautiful feet and hearts full of the hope that comes from the good news of the story of the gospel. May we remember, that no matter where we are on earth, no matter who is in power, no matter how hopeless or tense things may get, Love wins in the end. May we proclaim this news and this hope everywhere we go. Godās got us, and Godās intention is to bring every lost kid home. May we not lose sight of the most beautiful story. May we not be adding to the chaos or hate or division. May we love big, like God loves and carry the good tidings that all are loved by God.

Iām not really a runner. I just like to go fast, so if I ever go for a ārunā, Iām mainly walking. My sister in law taught me to run really slow during the verses to songs, and then to sprint during choruses , and then in the bridge to take a breather and walk, and then to sprint to the end of the song. I love this and I laugh as people drive by me as I am flying down the streetā¦because to them it may look like Iām training for the olympics, but itās really just my 30 second burst of energy. : )
I love the imagery from this verse, and the way it reminds me that if we simply place our hope and set our minds on the Love of God, we will be fueled with a limitless supply of strength and endurance. I have known this to be true b/c I have found in seasons of deep exhaustion, even when I am forced to rest or slow down, I am met by a steady current of light and hope that keeps me going. Lord, may we put our hope in You, and may we be amazed by the way You send your strength and light and love to infuse us with a steady current to carry us when it feels like we canāt carry on alone. Thank You that we donāt have to muster up the energy to keep going on our own.

This place is not our home. I long for healing. I long for change. I long for less violence, less division, less shouting, less lines in the sand, less binary thinking, more safety from firearms, more deliverance from mental illness, more cures for cancer and diseases that wreak havoc on peopleās bodies, more peace to come to war torn places in the world, more equality, more remembering that we are ALL beloved sons and daughters of the God who made us. I grow weary with the ways we so often forget all of this, and here, in Isaiahā¦we are given both grace AND hope. Weāre assured all of us grow weary here on this side of heaven. All of us stumble and fall sometimes, but if we continue to set our hope on Love, we will find strength beyond our wildest imaginationsā¦not power, not the outcomes we think need to happen, not an easy, pain or problem-free life, but a sense of strength that comes from the source of all light, love, and strength. Oh God, help us remember. Give us strength to walk in the way that You walk and to love in the way You love.

Singing this verse this week over anyone who feels wounded in any way. I love that Jesus was and is a wounded healer. We have an advocate, a rescuer, who is well acquainted with grief, who was willingly wounded, who willingly entered the depths of pain any of us will ever experience in this life , and made a way out. The way is paved with Love, and I hope you know today that if you feel like youāre at the end of your rope, if you feel like the pain will crush you, if you feel like there is no hopeā¦.youāre not alone. Hold on. There is healing and wholeness ahead. Love is with you in the pain, and whispers that the pain , the sickness, the longing, the loneliness is never the end of the story. By His wounds, we are healed. Thank you God for entering our pain, our mistakes, our brokenness , our sickness, our despair, and for letting it break Your heart, and open the way back home.

This verse feels so closely connected to the song I wrote with Lauren Daigle (thatās out at radio right now!), called āBe OKā. I connected with a young girl who had a terminal illness, had lived a hard story, and she had lot of questions as she was facing the last weeks of her life on this earth. Iāll never forget her sweet spirit. I sat in the questions with her, and I still have questions about why some people suffer so much in this world, but the comfort that I found myself wanting to share with her was tucked right into this promise. I really do believe that there will be a day when every tear will be wiped from every eye. Tish Harrison Warren writes about this beautifully. She suggest in her book āA Prayer in the Nightā that if every tear is wiped away, then perhaps before we enter the place where all is healed and whole, we have one last long final cry with Jesus, for everything we lost, for every ache and hurt, for every disease , for every question, for every mistake, for every dark valley or night when we felt alone, we let it all out and Jesus cries with us and wipes our tears.
Iāve walked through a boatload of sorrow in this life so far. Iāve wept. Iāve questioned. Iāve doubted. Iāve grieved. Iāve still got questions, but I have also known deep comfort even in the midst of my darkest nights, and I hold on to the hope woven into this verse. I canāt know for sureā¦it wouldnāt be faith if I did, but I choose to believe and hold onto the hope that one day, all will be made well. These are the last few lines of Be OK, and they sing about the promises carried in these verses.
āYouāre gonna be alright. My darlin, youāre gonna be alright.
At the end of all our breath, when weāre beckoned on to the light,
Loveāll meet you there, youāre gonna be alright.
At the end of all our breath is the beginning of new life,
youāre gonna be alright.ā
Sandra McCracken says it like this, āIn the end, everything will be OK. So if itās not ok, itās not the end.ā

If your soul is weary with sorrow today, I pray that you will sense the strong arms of God coming around to hold you and give you the strength you need to get up this morning, and walk through whatever sorrow youāre facing. If you feel stressed or overwhelmed or covered in shame today, I pray that this promise will encourage you to take a deep breath and invite the love of God to come hold your weary heart. I pray the low place, the valley youāre in will be transformed into a memory of Love coming close and whispering to you that this low place isnāt the end, and that youāll find strength and hope in the promises of God.

I love this verse. We know Godās love and we rely on it. THIS is deeply encouraging to me. We donāt have to know Godās love and then muster up a Love like that, or try to perfectly love anyoneā¦we simply have to rely , to lean on Godās love ! I have a feeling that if I did that more often, if I came to God when I felt frustrated or full of impatience, that I would be met with Love in a way that would transform me and transform the way I moved forward. Oh Lord, help me to first RELY on Love and then to LIVE in Your Love.

I chose this verse for this week because this week is Juneteenth, a holiday that celebrates the end of slavery in the United States. Iāve known about the brokenness of slavery in our country, but it hits me differently when I hear how it affects somebody I LOVE dearly as my friend. My bridge builder group co-leader, Zandy and her husband asked Drew and I to be their precious boy, Triumphās, god-parents, and it continues to shape and transform my heart. I long for a better world for him, where racism isnāt ignored by the church, but acknowledged and lamented, where people who love Jesus seek to walk as He walked and build bridges and be agents of reconciliation wherever they go. I long for a world for Tri, where he doesnāt have to live by a different set of rules than my sons just because of the color of his skin. I long to love justice and mercy more because I LOVE my friends.
Iām learning that this looks like both loving our neighbors AND facing unjust systems and policies. I still feel like an infant in all of it, but I can say that as I have leaned into the part of Godās heart that loves both justice and mercy, the gospel has become wider, higher, deeper, more colorful, more wonderful , and more powerful to me. So happy, Juneteenth this week ! May we continue to learn how to love our black and brown brothers and sisters, may we continue to learn how to love ALL and how to follow in the steps of Jesus , walking in justice AND loving mercy AND walking humbly just like Jesus did.
Lord, help your children, especially those of us who claim to follow you, continue to learn how to love both justice AND mercy, and how to walk humbly with You. So often I see people loving justice, but shaming others for not loving it too. This doesnāt seem like itās Your way. Help us to listen to others who have different experiences than us, help us to both acknowledge and lament the evils of racism and slavery that are in our history, help us to own that weāve gotten it wrong sometimes, even in the church, and help us to welcome ALL and love ALL. Itās how Jesus loved and moved through this earth, so help us to love and move like Him.
