Hello everyone! I'm releasing a short video this Thursday evening to end my hiatus, but for now I just wanted to make a statement about a webpage I was just made aware of on the site cgtrader. It has ball jointed doll files to 3D print with the keyword "caladhieltan", and it is not affiliated with me in any way. I did not make the page, nor did the creator of the page get my permission to use my username to sell doll files. Thanks for reading, and have a lovely week!

AN APOLOGY: PLEASE READ
*
If you watched the unboxing and customization videos for the dolls I bought from TheCraftyGuyShop (the gelfling and the 3D printed peach toned doll), I want to apologize to you.
*
An artist has reached out to me, and it appears that TheCraftyGuyShop did not design the bodies of the dolls I purchased from him. Instead, it seems that he took the files from Thingiverse and altered them, selling copies of the altered design in spite of the design NOT being licensed for commercial use. I purchased the dolls in good faith and thought I was supporting an artist's original work, but that does not now appear to be the case.
*
The artist who reached out to me has sent me ample messages and screenshots of their Thingiverse work, showing how strikingly similar it is to the bodies sold by TheCraftyGuyShop. They were polite and complimented some aspects of TheCraftyGuyShop's work, but pointed out multiple areas in which TheCraftyGuyShop's dolls almost exactly match the Thingiverse file they worked on.
*
In contrast, when I politely reached out to TheCraftyGuyShop, informing him in detail of the claim and asking him to show some progress photos of his sculpting (or proof that he had permission to use the design if he did not sculpt it), he replied with a couple of sentences in which he said it was a "misunderstanding" and "do as you wish to resolve the situation for yourself. I am doing so as well."
*
That's very different from how I would expect an artist who had made an original work to act. If my original work was accused of being a copy, for example, I know I would be falling all over myself to show my process and try to prove it was not a copy. Or if I had misunderstood the terms under which I could sell something and had accidentally infringed on someone's rights, I know I would be anxious to apologize and try to make it right. But TheCraftyGuyShop basically told me I was on my own with this issue.
*
I acknowledge there is a chance that TheCraftyGuyShop is innocent, but I gave him a chance to prove his innocence, and he chose not to do so. His behavior is not what I would expect from an artist who had been falsely accused. The similar designs on Thingiverse, which are not licensed for commercial use and thus cannot be ethically used to produce items to sell, are too close to TheCraftyGuyShop's merchandise for me to ignore.
*
I have privated the videos that have dolls I purchased from him in them, and I will not be keeping the dolls. I am sorry that I unintentionally promoted items that the seller almost certainly had no right to sell.
*
In the future when purchasing 3D printed dolls, I will be much more careful in ensuring that the seller has the right to sell the design they're offering. I urge you to learn from my mistake and do the same.
*
Sincerely,
Rachel / Caladhieltan

If you are protesting: thank you for caring enough about the world to do something about it.
If you don't understand why there is protesting: now is your opportunity to educate yourself.

Black lives matter. And if saying that, or reading this, makes you uncomfortable, it's time to ask yourself why.
I am not a political channel, and I will never be. This will probably be the only time I will directly address this issue on the channel. But I could not be silent, either.
*
I know this won't magically fix anything, but since dolls are my wheelhouse, I will be focusing on purchasing from black doll artists in the near future, and/or purchasing black dolls and sculpts, as my way of supporting the black community during this time and helping ensure my subscribers cannot forget the current issues even as they're watching "unrelated" doll content. (Because my content has to be uploaded to Patreon 1-2 weeks ahead of time, meaning the next week or two of videos are already filmed and the items purchased, it will probably be mid-June before you see this taking affect on the channel.) As always, any attempted racist comments, no matter how subtle, on this channel will be reported if possible, deleted, and the commenter blocked.

Please stay as educated and safe as you can during this time.

Welcome to my channel! I make unboxings, reviews, and project videos about dolls, all from the perspective of an adult doll collector and crafter. My favorite kinds of dolls are artist dolls and BJDs, but I enjoy working with fashion dolls as well. Although I mark some of my videos as "made for kids" for legal reasons, my target audience is adult collectors.
While I do my best to prioritize purchasing from nonproblematic sellers and companies, no unboxing or review is intended to be an endorsement of an artist or company as a whole. My unboxings and reviews are intended primarily to educate the buyer and are not meant to indicate blanket approval of the seller/company/artist or their social/political views.
