Tae: Means "foot," "leg," or "to step on"
Kwon: Means "fist," or "fight"
Do: Means "the way" or "discipline"
The word "taekwondo" loosely translates to "the proper way of using one's fists and feet". It's also a way of life that aims to achieve permanent peace, and an important principle in taekwondo is calmness and preventing fights. According to taekwondo philosophy, a person should use their body to stop fights and establish peace.
