New Sounds on the vibraphone
Having studied with Gary Burton and Ed Saindon, the great masters of the vibraphone, I came to realize that I would have to go my own way. Since then I've been committed to finding new ways of playing the vibraphone. Every little technique I can find I add to my playing. Dampening, bowing, overtone playing, using mallets, fingers, sticks and brushes and of course electronics, always searching to expand the expressiveness of the vibraphone. In the process (20 years or so) I came up with a new grip, the 4-mallet Mixed Grip that combines the Stevens and Musser grip with the Fulcrum Grip providing me with speed, range and freedom of expression .
A key to finding my own voice is new compositions. Some are vibraphone solo pieces some are for for group settings, like the Martin Fabricius Trio and The Martin Fabricius Group.
So welcome to my world. I hope you listening. If so please hit subscribe and stay tuned.
