I have been in bed with a cold all week, i guess 2025 needed me to start out letting go of things and rest.
Unfortunatly i haven't been able to get a video ready for you.
I aim to get it out there next week.
I hope you are all having good days and i wish you an exciting, loving, adventurous new year ❤️

Spending cold, gloomy, dutch autumn days in and around my Van in the woods are my absolute favourite days 🥰.
I love hearing the rain tapping on my roof, the hooting of Owls, the rustling of leaves as we walk through the woods.
I love the smell of the woods after rainfal.
I love the peace and tranquility, and the occasional splash of colour hidden within all the shades of green and brown.
I love how inviting and cosy my Van feels when the days are cold and the nights get longer.
I love when i have to take my dogs out at night, sometimes the moon lights our way, and sometimes its almost pitch black.
I love how the cold and the dark make my senses come to life.
What are your favourite vanlife days?

As a Dutchie today is a national holiday where we celebrate the birthday of Sinterklaas.
Eventhough there is a lot of controversy (with most of wich I agree with) surrounding this tradition my inner child gets happy hearing the songs, eating the traditional foods and taking a selfie with Sinterklaas himself.
I even got to stand in for Sinterklaas back in 2016! And had lots of fun doing so.
Have you ever celebrated this dutch tradition?
Happy birthday Sinterklaas!

Just before the rainy season hit the Netherlands, i thought of some rust i had noticed last summer & decided to go explore.
I discovered rust in multiple places and contacted a company to have it proffesionally fixed.
After careful consideration of the pros and cons i discided to ask for help in my surroundings.
I got a place in a barn for me to camp out in for 10 days and asked my Dad for help.
10 consecutive days we hustled and eventhough the temperatures got really cold we pushed through and i am happy to tell you our hard work payd off!
I love doing maintenance on Sophie myself.
Spending all this time, checking all of her exterior and fixing and polishing things makes me feel more confident with us being ok this winter.
We got everything finished just in time for me to go back to work with the children.
I didn't have any time to create a video yet.
I'm planning on getting back to it, next week 🥰.
In the meantime i am enjoying my sweet sweet Sophie and proud of everything my Dad and i accomplished.
Vanlife is never dull & i learn new things every day.

Do you like asking for help?
I'm a lone wolf, i always think i should be able to do things myself. And if i lack the skill or knowledge i take a course or do a deep dive and figure it out.
This time around though i was in over my head & i reached out to people.
And lo and behold, i got the help i was looking for.
I needed a dry place to work on my Van & i needed an extra pair of strong and capable hands for my recent Van project; tackling the rust!
I am very grateful there are people around that i can ask for help and that are willing to lend a hand or a barn to me.
Doing some really tough work and exploring more and more work along the way, its nice to have someone there with you.
Eventhough my brain works best if i don't get interrupted and can go my own way, my body is happy if i can leave the heavy or noisy jobs to some else.
Slowly but surely i am warming up to the idea of asking and recieving help but my first instinct will always be to take the lonesome road.

Driving on the highway to the veluwe to take some time for myself, I heard a loud sound.
I was just passing a truck when something ricochets of my window causing a 30 cm crack.
What was supposed to be a relaxing couple of days immediatly brought some worry with it.
Luckily I had good insurance and I could schedule an appointment with carglass online just a couple of days later.
Fixing things is a part of Vanlife and sometimes i can't do it myself.
The following day to having my windshield replaced, I am driving to have some rust checked out on my Van when the check engine light comes on 😱.
I'm currently at the garage waiting my turn to have them check what is going on qith my engine, and soon I will get a price estimate for treating the rust on my Van form another place.
Safe to say, never a dull moment 🤣, looks like i am spending winter Vanlife in the Netherlands ❤️🌧❄️⛄️

What is your take on DIY?
For me, the convenience of building my Van myself is that i can alter things along the way.
A little while ago i made a video about things that are working really well and things that i would like to change about my Van.
Lately i've been feeling up to the challenge and i have started checking boxes of that list.
I started with my maxxair fan, because I needed sunny weather to do so.
And now i've gotten started on my kitchen drawers.
I really love that i've gained so many skills and lets face it, the guts to just start these things and figure it out as i go.
Ususally i'm really happy with the outcome and it makes my life more convenient. Every now and then though, it does not. And thats also ok, i learn by doing and by making mistakes.
In my upcoming video i am tackling the task of creating a way to keep my kitchen drawers shut while driving.
Up to now i've had to drive like there was a horse in the back, that could tip over.
And even in doing so my kitchen drawers would occasionally fly open and stuff would go everywhere, accompanied by loud bangs that would add to my excisiting anxiety.
Many hours i spend researching, contemplating and figuring out how i was going to solve this issue in an aesthetically pleasing way.
I have to say, i think i nailed it.
Only time will tell if it will hold while driving all the rocky and bumpy roads i will encounter in my future travel.
But for now i'm confident it will.

Growing up my Mom & Dad had fairly 'traditional' roles in the house.
My Mom was a stay at home Mom and my Dad worked during the week and was home in the weekends.
My Mom did most of the cleaning and cooking, while my Dad did most of the Maintenance in and around the house.
To me this looked like the way things are done in the world and wow, am i glad i let go of that believe.
I've always been fascinated by learning how to maintain things that i use on a daily basis.
I've always had these moments where i wanted change instantly so i usually had to do it myself.
To figure out how to do things i dive deep into the Internet and research all the questions i have.
Once i have gathered all the knowledge and supplies i need, i go for it!
Through trial and error i've become quite the handy women and love maintaining my home.
In my upcoming video i am prepping for fall, and tackling a chore i have been dreading for a while.
I had finally gathered the knowledge and lets face it the courage, to re install my maxxair fan!
New video will be out this sunday!

Working with the kids brings me so much joy! And sometimes germs 😬.
I have been sick with a cold this week, so i haven't had energie to make a video for you all ❤️🩹.
I have been trying to get the hang of AI! And researching how i can get merchandise for you all, out there ❤️
I've been asked about stickers before so i will make sure they will become available, what other kind of merch would you be interested in?
I really like totebags ❤️ please let me know and help me with my research.
Have an awesome day!
Ps. I couldn't help but make one with Doerak in it ❤️ it feels like she is always here with us.
