hi this is my little journal entry segment for my trip so far...
starting off on day one, the flight was alright. i am not a huge fan of flying but i am also not scared of it. the take off is always where i feel most anxious but once we are an hour or so into the flight my nerves settle down and i can relax. everytime i go on a flight i bombard my carry on with books, journals, download movies, music and more. and everytime, i end up just sitting and staring at the seat in front of me while listening to music and sleeping for 5 minutes here and there. despite always wanting the window seat, i rarely look out the window. i think it scares me. i try so hard to be engaged in something to pass the time but i always end up getting bored of them. this time when i was packing i made it my mission to include the least amount of stuff. but then, i found out i had a ton more weight in my luggage and that plan quickly went out the window and packed my bags with senseless items i SWORE i needed and here i am, a week into my trip, and have not touched them once. when we landed we got picked up by my family's chauffeur...yeah. a real chauffeur. my family here has money so when we come down once a year i get to pretend i'm rich and have fun don't say anything. we got to our house after a quick trip to walmart for some essentials and dinner which was a roast chicken with rice. that night we settled in and slept like babies.
the next day was slow as we didn't have anything planned, we were waiting for my older brother to get here the next day, and the rest of our family was busy. we went to the mall nearby for a few hours and made another walmart trip. nothing too crazy. the rest of the day we lounged around the house.
the following days were filled with hours spent at tables while everyone spoke in spanish and nodded pretending i understood what was going on, thanks to an occasional translation from my mom. despite being mexican myself, i have yet to learn spanish which is something i do intend on doing, i just never remember until i'm here. my mind is very 'out of sight out of mind' wired. we spent some time at my cousin's ranch which was beautiful. the stables full of horses and the landscape fresh. halfway through our dinner it began raining and since we were all sitting outside we had to huddle against a wall to try and avoid the droplets from soaking us wet.
on sunday, we went into the town of Tepoztlan where my mom's sister (my aunt) lives to walk around the market. i love that town so much. the cobblestone streets and vibrant energy from the people never fail to make me feel like i'm on a movie set. we had dinner at a little restaurant with an insane view of the mountains covered in lush greenery. i ate a quesadilla with oaxaca cheese as we watched the thunder and lightning roll in. after that we got ice cream at Tepoznieves which is a local ice cream shop that has hundreds of flavors. i'm not kidding. my favorite is guava which i load up with chamoy. that night we came home and i slept peacefully for what would be the last night before everything went downhill...
monday morning rolls around and i feel a weird feeling in my stomach. it was the feeling you get when you're throwing up and your stomach is contracting over and over but instead of the rhythmic pulses, it was just a constant ache. a few hours later, it hit me. i had gotten food poisoning. i'll spare you the details but i spent all day in bed drinking water and eating toast. i usually don't get sick when i come to mexico as i am very cautious to what i eat. two years ago though i ate the same quesadilla and was up all night before coming home so i am assuming the quesadilla once again took me out. back home i try to avoid dairy when i can as i am a little sensitive but i don't worry too much about it. i suppose something about being here makes it different though. i spent monday and tuesday in bed trying to stay hydrated. i watched the first 3 seasons of adventure time, shrek 2, inside out, alice in wonderland, and nightmare before christmas to help keep me comforted and dwindle down my anxiety.
as of now, i still am dealing with those....uh......symptoms.......and hopefully i feel better tomorrow. i don't mind sitting here though, i feel like i saw all the family i needed to and did what i wanted to do so if i have to sit in this room the remainder of the trip that's fine with me. i have a room with a bed, a tv, AC and time to draw and write.

Finally he is complete! I had lots of fun with him and am excited for him to be finished and ready to display. He’s a polymer clay sculpted piece painted with acrylic paints! 🛸 the video painting him will be up shortly, and in a few days a full start to finish process video!

i’m about to spam upload a few art videos that i uploaded to a new channel i thought i wanted to start but realized i don’t want to do that actually so im re-uploading them here! it’s gonna be a new style of video i start posting frequently on here to help with the downtime between studio vlogs since those that a couple day/weeks to make! anywho….enjoy the new videos! ⭐️ Asteroid’s Rodeo: Chapter One - The Motel
Welcome to Asteroid’s Rodeo! The first installment of a collection of fables that will be told throughout the year! Each installment will feature its own storyline, shop updates, comic strips, new characters, and sometimes short films! My goal for 2024 and beyond is to continue creating and developing stories through whatever medium feels appropriate. At the end of the year all of the stories will be comprised into a physical storybook for you to have!
With that, our first story is Asteroid’s Rodeo and each week a new chapter will be revealed here for you to read! I am super excited for this project and hope you all can fall in love with Asteroid even more, along with his new friends who you will meet very soon. But for now, chapter one :)
