About
Since 1928, Alvi’s Drift winery has dared to pursue its passion for crafting exceptional South African wines. Wines that express the story of our family farm nestled in mountains a mere hour’s drive from Cape Town.
Here, a serendipitous combination of climate, soils, topography and abundant water from the Breede River enables our vineyards to yield internationally acclaimed, award-winning wines of singular character and complexity, including Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, and SA’s signature variety, Pinotage.
Named for the low-water bridge across the Breede River on our farm, commissioned by our family patriarch back in 1930, in recent years our winery has grown from strength to strength.
With their winemaking team, our head winemaker Alvi Van Der Merwe and his Cape Wine Master wife, Junel, have remained true to their steadfast commitment to everyone who loves their wines: nothing less than excellence in every outcome.
