In two hours: watch @Afterthaughts and I talk about the deep, pervasive jank that comes from Tears of the Kingdom trying/not trying to be a direct sequel to BOTW! The first of two collab videos appearing on her channel.

So, I've only just realized that I managed to do this twice in a row, but: my newest video is up, but not here! This year, I made an extracurricular essay for March Fadness 2023. If you aren't familiar with March Xness, it's an annual March Madness tournament of essays about songs. I didn't get drawn to participate in the actual tourney this year, but I did make an essay that's a part of the pre-tournament festivities. This year, the theme is the one-hit wonders of the 1980s. I started out wondering why so many covers ended up as one-hit wonders in the 80s, and ended up with a bigger, messier question: how did everything here end up so *white?*
This video will go public on my channel later this month, but for the first few weeks, it's a Fadness exclusive. If you don't want to wait for it to show up in your feed, check it out here: marchxness.com/the-essays#/theessentialwhiteness/ . And either way, check out March Fadness. It's going to be an awesome tournament.

In case you didn't see it elsewhere, my most recent project was a collaboration I organized on The Essay Library, a Discord server for video essayists. We took the Exquisite Corpse parlor game, in which participants collaborate to write a sentence or poem by only seeing what came immediately before them, and used it to make video essays. Fourteen essayists worked on this project, seven making an essay forwards, and seven making an essay backwards, one minute at a time. It came out really well, and it was a blast to organize. Check it out!

We're the Nuclear Family, and we make video essays. As parents, we spend way too much time exposed to family media, and as academics, we have a bad habit of treating Bluey the same way we might treat Das Kapital. We overthink things spectacularly.
(Mostly Dad Nuke these days because Mom Nuke got a "real job," smh)
