Hi there! I'm Cathy Fisher, and my passion is teaching others how to prepare health-promoting, plant-based (vegan) meals that are free of added salt, oil, and sugar (as well as gluten), and are STILL delicious!
I am the creator of the free recipe blog, StraightUpFood.com, and author of the cookbook, Straight Up Food: Delicious and Easy Plant-based Cooking without Salt, Oil or Sugar (hardcover; spiral, lay-flat binding; nutritional information for all recipes; lots of color photos. See cookbook link below). My Recipes emphasize using unprocessed foods that are easy to make with easy-to-find ingredients.
I am also a cooking instructor with TrueNorth Health Center, and have been teaching cooking classes since 2010. My style of teaching is very approachable and friendly, and my classes are fun and inspiring. I began eating a plant-based diet in 1999 in an effort to avoid dairy foods, which I did not tolerate.
