The Polecats Rugby League club was formed in 1971 to participate in the newly NSW Tertiary Student Rugby League competition.
The club, originally affiliated with the Australian Catholic University campus in Castle Hill, has had a long and successful history both on and off the field winning a number of premierships in both first and second division.
In 2001, when the Australian Catholic University closed down at Castle Hill, the club was forced to relocate, and affiliated with the University of Western Sydney's Nirimba campus. Since then the club has made moves to affiliate with other Tertiary institutes within the region in an effort to more appropriately represent its area.
