I thought I would share some of the gear I use for videos. This “NEEWER 72 inch Camera Tripod” has been a great purchase, I really like it. The extendable arm is a game changer, it really allows you to get close to the layout. It hard to tell in the pics but it is very tall too, at 72”. The adjustable alum ball mount is awesome too, lots of adjustments.

I am starting to archive train car pictures I have taken, check out my playlist. I am up to 262 cars so far. I plan to use these to help with my future weathering projects. Like the format?

A before and after of my 18”x55” SPL (Scenery Practice Layout), and the progress I have made. The track plan might not be the best suit for all since there is no run around track but it’s helped me get introduced to a lot of techniques. I am very glad I started this practice layout, I would have had to way so long to try out and scenery stuff. As for the track work, it’s all left over Peco code 100, my new 2’x24’ layout is all code 83. To have all this left over track work was nice, a good reuse of material.

I took a 1:87 photo to match the 1:1 picture I took on the BNSF Staples Subdivision today. I know the numbers are wrong and the real unit is a GP40… not a GP38-2. 🤓 Just thought it was a fun pic.

While taking pics of different car types, I always find it a bit interesting when I see some cartoon art. 🤓 All photos by JustN2Trains 😇

The worker with the blue helmet, he really points out the height of the track. With this elevation change, I added some rock and dirt I gather from outside to the side of the track. I used a grey, flat earth, and black washes on the rocks. I used some of the Ammo Rural Soil pigment on the rocks too. I also added some 2mm and 7mm static grass in areas.

I give my official 2024 endorsement to @lombardhobbies, they receive my “2024 Online Train Retailer” award. I have seen this a few times this year but I recently noticed Lombard Hobbies is great at NOT price gouging on new releases. I recently bought a hot new release from them for $20 and other popular sites are $10 more! With this day in age of high prices, I want to really thank Lombard Hobbies for being a honest company, great shipping too. *I have zero affiliation with them. #notsponsored Any who, thanks Lombard Hobbies!

After all the track weathering lately, today I spent a bit of time cleaning the top of the rails and the turnout connections as well. Not the most fun step but well worth it to have smooth running trains. 🤓

After doing some quick research, I noticed BNSF 2273 has some AC units on the cab. I haven’t glued them on yet but I have had these Atlas AC unit pieces for a while now. Most current BNSF GPs sure have some cool parts on the cabs now a days.
