Death by Ligers hail from Idaho. The name refers to the 1995 escape of 45 exotic big cats from the Ligertown ranch near Lava Hot Springs, Idaho.
"Napoleon Dynamite famously described a liger as “like a lion and a tiger mixed, bred for its skills in magic.” And while the animal gracing the cover of Death By Ligers’ debut LP seems to have inherited a fair bit more feline DNA, the definition stands. This collection is a melding of sounds across two continents and four home studios. It is also, quite handsomely, a meritocracy, as each band member – Timothy Jack Rowe (lead guitar), Cody Joe Barfuss (bass), Griffin Morrell Dean (rhythm guitar) and Andrew Lee Correll (drums) – contributes at least two songs. These gentlemen are proud Gen X’ers. Born from the slums of flannel-clad angst, their garage rock spirit leans slightly more eclectic; picking up touches of reggae, blues and new wave along the journey." -Michael E.
