Today we give thanks for the life and witness of Desmond Mpilo Tutu (7 October 1931 - 26 December 2021).
He was a faithful and courageous servant of Jesus, and champion for the values of God’s just, loving, and inclusive Kingdom.
Let’s draw inspiration from him for our own lives.

I was promoted to Full Professor in January and will deliver my Inaugural Lecture on 16 August 2022 at 17h30 (Cape Town time, which is GMT +2h).

Today is the funeral service of Archbishop Desmond Tutu. I give thanks for his life and witness for justice, peace, and reconciliation. I was reminded of what Desmond Tutu said at the funeral service or Steve Biko in 1997. We have so much work to do.
"We are experiencing the birth pangs of a new South Africa, a free South Africa, where all of us, Black and White together, will walk tall, where all of us, Black and White together, will hold hands as we stride forth on the Freedom March to usher in the new South Africa where people will matter because they are human beings made in the image of God… for the sake of our children, Black and White together, let us dedicate ourselves anew to the struggle for the liberation of our beloved land, South Africa. Let us all, Black and White together, not be filled with despondency and despair. Let us Blacks not be filled with hatred and bitterness. For all of us, Black and White together, shall overcome, nay, indeed have already overcome."

I hold two PhD's. First, I completed a PhD in theology and science in 2006. Then I completed a second PhD with a focus on reconciliation and social identity complexity theory in 2017.
This channel is mainly about topics related to Public Theology. However, you will also find some of my other interests reflected here.
I drive a Vespa. I shoot stills on a Leica. I travel the world with a Brompton folding bike.
