Itโs been 14 years since we lost Michael Jackson, the King of Pop. But although we canโt bring him back, itโs essential to continue to protect his legacy and combat lies about him. One of the most damaging and most persistent of these lies has been the false allegation that he molested children--an accusation that was first made in 1993 and has continued to be used despite proof of its falseness.
In 2019, the documentary Leaving Neverland came out which used false testimony to allege that Michael Jackson had abused young boys. Since then, this movie has been used as evidence to discredit the musician and to spread even more lies regarding the accusation. Itโs time to set the record straight and prove that Michael Jackson did not touch or molest any children.
There have been numerous individuals and organizations that have conducted thorough investigations into this allegation. In multiple reports, law enforcement officers, private investigators, and even renowned child development experts have all concluded that there was no evidence to support the allegations.
For instance, in 2005, the Santa Barbara County Sheriffโs Office conducted a two-year investigation which involved interviews with alleged victims, parents and other individuals close to them. There was no evidence of criminal conduct, and no charges were brought against Jackson.
The behavior attributed to Jackson by Leaving Neverland was also notably absent from the 1993, 2005 and other investigations. In fact, a number of the legal documents presented reveal that the two alleged victims were not even mentioned in the 1993 allegations, which casts doubt on their credibility.
In addition, experts in child development have also made clear in various reports that while some children certainly suffer as a result of alleged sexual abuse, the behavior of the alleged victims that was suggested in the documentary was not consistent with other individuals who have experienced this type of trauma.
Finally, there have been numerous cases where celebrities have been credibly accused of abuse, yet Michael Jacksonโs name is still being used to spread misinformation and lies. When considering all of the evidence, itโs important to keep in mind that it is impossible to know exactly what happened between Michael Jackson and these children. But when viewed objectively, all available evidence shows that he was not guilty of molesting any children.
So, 14 years after Michael Jacksonโs passing, we owe it to him and his legacy to defend the King of Pop against falsehoods and mistruths. We must continue to stand up for him against those who seek to taint his name and legacy with lies and misinformation.
