Cancer Institute (WIA) is a 70 year old organisation located in Adyar, Chennai, India. It is a charitable,
comprehensive cancer centre having all facilities from prevention, screening, epidemiology,
registry, state of art treatment, basic sciences, rehabilitation and palliative care. It takes care of all
cancer patients irrespective of their socio economic status including totally free patients. The hospital provides state of art treatment to one and all. It has both a National and International stature. Of the hospital patients, 25-30% are treated totally free and another 35–40% pay a highly subsidised amount which is mostly supported through some welfare schemes. Annually, over 15,500 new patients and 120,000 follow up cases are seen at the Institute. The ethos of the Institute is ‘Service to all’ irrespective of socio economic status, community or religion.
