Nightmare Moon emerges from the shadows! I'm currently working on a new original orchestral piece that will complement my "Daybreaker" piece from 2022.

The YouTube gods have smiled upon my latest upload and pushed my original MLP song, "It's Been So Long" over the 1k view threshold, a record previously held by my Stinger Flynn Pencilmation underscore from August 2023. Maybe this is due to it sharing the same name as another fan song (which was unintentional), but 60 likes must be worth something, right?

Thank you to everyone and welcome to my new subscribers!

If you haven't already, you can check out the instrumental of the song, which is attached to this post. Also, check out the motion comic that this song was written for: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dGOb...

2023 in Review...

I wrote around 1 hour and 33 minutes of completed music this year, which includes both original music and arrangements. About the same as last year, according to my records.

2022: ~1h 30m
2021: ~2h 53m

My longest piece of music was a 9.5 minute underscore. My shortest piece was an 18 second track that would have been for a game.

My favorite piece of music for this year is a tossup between the Queen of Ktath'atn theme (https://youtu.be/ibBg8-wAN2s), for it's experimentation, and the underscore I wrote for the Pencilmation episode "Evolution of Hydra Skibidi", for the energy and fun (https://youtu.be/z6Tvaax5FdQ).

Next year, I want to find more time to write music for myself and release more standalone works/albums.

Thank you to the people who joined me live on Friday! If I have another stream, I might try something different. Maybe record and build a sample library or score a short clip.

Did some stream tests today, to work out the kinks, and I think we're good to go! The plan is to do some casual live composing where you can also ask me questions or just chat. Thinking the best day for me would be this Wednesday in the afternoon (Eastern Time). How does this sound?

I have had a couple of people come to me with questions, so I'm going to be looking into having a live Q&A in the coming weeks here on YouTube! I'll be happy to talk about my personal approach to composing music, MIDI sequencing and sample libraries, and anything else you might be curious about.

Like this post if this is something that interests you and feel free to comment on any other topics you'd like to see me cover.
