"Let's Talk Bass" with André Berry

Hello to whomever may be interested!
I am going to be doing a "Bass Talk & Forum Session" online via Zoom. Admission is $10. If you'd like to join the session please pay the admission price via PayPal to: andrerberry@gmail.com
and I will send you to Zoom Code & Password to log in to the meeting that will be held on April 10th, 2021 @ 1pm Pacific Time (US). It will be a 90 minute session.
I have friends from all over the world that I've met through touring, and talking online, so I think it will be a great time!

More than just giving you notes & exercises to practice, I feel it is important to have the "Proper Concepts" in place so that you develop musical "Width and Depth" rather than just flashy techniques that are hollow and fleeting. I feel if you wrap yourself around the "Proper Concepts" that I've been blessed to figure out over the 45 years I've been playing, it will help speed you along not just as a player, but get you to where the music comes from your Heart & Soul, not just your Hands and Head.

I'll talk and I'll take your questions from the waiting list.

I'll be talking in depth about some of the following bullet points:
- Consistency is Key.
- How to practice effectively so you can see results
- How to develop the skills that are important to make a living playing bass
- Putting The Mind, The Body & The Soul into your Bassplaying.
- Tone: The Wheels on the vehicle of your playing.
- The Walking, Skipping & Running Concept
- How to "Build a Solo" to keep the listener engaged
- The Bass's function on the bandstand.
- Confidence: How do I develop it?
- The Art of Singing through your instrument or Making Music vs. Noodling.
- Playing Outward not Inward
- Building a bassline: Key points to listen for
- Imagination & Individuality
- The Ears, The Eyes, The Hands, The Heart & The Soul Concept
-The Groove, The Feel, The Touch, The Tone & The Chops Concept.
- Question and Answer Time

I am excited to do this.
I only ask that you come with a positive attitude, an open mind and a love for musical comraderie. One of my pet peeves or dislikes if you will, is competition in music. There is such a thing as positive fun competition that pushes us to get better, but then there is the negative energy competition built from ego and insecurity that needs to prove it's better than everybody else. When i hear that spirit in someone's notes it makes me tune out completely, because it sounds to me that they are only playing to be impressive and not playing from the heart and the passionate spirit of the music. It makes ones playing scream "Look at me!! Aren't I great?! I'm so impressive!!" So if you come to show how much better you are or to express how unimpressed you are, please refrain from joining our good time. I want to share the Joy of Music and Concepts I've figured over a lifetime of playing...that is all.
Looking forward to meeting you!!
Sincerely,
André Berry

This song is a statement that speaks to cruelty to our women. Our Mothers. Our Sisters. Our Daughters. Our Nieces. Our gender that should be treated with the utmost kindness, care and nurturing, often find themselves in abusive, cruel, dangerous and intolerable situations. It is time for the planet, and men to behave better. This song speaks of the abused womans plight. Let's be better. Love & kindness is the best humanity has to offer.

A look at life through African American eyes. The world has awakened to what has quietly plagued African Americans for 400 years. Take a look at life through African American Eyes. And please don't confuse the issue: It's not "only Black Live Matter" all lives matter, but all lives aren't threatened on a daily basis. Other lives are treated like they matter, so it goes without saying...Black lives, sadly need to stand up and say "Please stop falsley incarcerating and brutally Killing us!" Thank you to all the wonderful, soulful and heartfelt White (and every other nationality around the globe) that have Black Peoples backs and joined in to say "Ok, enough is enough...we're not going to repeat the horrible acts of our ancestors. We are better than that." Thank you good people. Thank you.

This song is dedicated to anyone struggling with the state of the world. It's a reminder that there is a bigger pictur...begger thatn government, bigger than hatred, bigger than the Universe...We can regroup if we stop, and take the time to remind ourselves. God Bless..
