Mr. ALIK BANERJEE Defends Ph.D. Thesis on "Water Footprint in the Context of Urban Water Management: Challenges and Opportunities."
Mr. Alik Banerjee, a Ph.D. scholar at DA-IICT Gandhinagar, showcased his extensive research on water footprint in the context of urban water management, Under the guidance of Thesis Supervisor Prof. Alka Parikh and Co-supervisor Prof. Mukesh Tiwari.
The defense, witnessed by a experts, Prof. Kishor Joshi (Head of the Department, Economics, Bhavnagar University), Prof. Tathagata Bandyopadhyay, and Prof. VINAY PALAPARTHY. His comprehensive exploration delved into the challenges and potential opportunities surrounding water footprint analysis concerning urban water management.
Mr. Banerjee's research not only encapsulated the complexities but also proposed innovative approaches to address the pressing issues related to water scarcity and water management in urban settings. One among many approaches is Water footprint (WF) measure in development economics to understand this prevailing water crisis. The WF, which consists of green, blue, and grey, can be conceptualized in terms of the total volume of water that evapotranspirates from green water resources, consumed from the available ground/surface water resources, and reflection of a specific standard of water quality.
