Hi YouTube fam!! Miss you guys! If you follow me on instagram you know, Iām moving to Florida! Yep, moving cross country from CA to FL the end of June. So Iāve been SO busy with that as you can imagine. Plus Iāve been working so much on TRUology and working with my chemist and lab on formulating some amazing new products! I was talking about this subject on instagram this weekend and thought it would be a good topic to discuss here too! Dry skin vs dehydrated skin. These are two different skin issues and I hope this post helps!
DRY SKIN needs rich and emollient ingredients. Remember, dry skin lacks oil and oil is what protects the skin. It also causes our skin to stay smooth and lubricated, alleviating flakiness and tightness. So, for this skin type you need to look for more emollient-based ingredients in your cleansers, serums and moisturizers and add a facial oil to your regimen.
DEHYDRATED SKIN can have the same symptoms as dry skin, but it is a skin condition that happens as a result of a lack of water. This lack of water may be causing your skin to overproduce oil to compensate and is why you can experience breakouts or oily and flaky skin at the same time. Dehydrated skin can be a sign of a broken down skin barrier. Because your skin is still able to produce oil more frequently, unlike dry skin, you donāt need to incorporate as rich of creams or oil-based products on your face. Instead you need more water-based ingredients that will hydrate your skin.

Skin Truth is 3 today! Today is so much more than just a business anniversary for me. My heart starts pounding and itās hard for me to put into words what this day truly means to me.
Feb 5th is also a day where Iām proud of ME! Itās a day that I proved to myself I can overcome anything and do anything I put my mind too. Itās a day that proves good does prevail.
If you are newer here, Skin Truth is my second skin care company. My first company, Premier Look, was stolen from me after 10 years in business during my terrible toxic divorce. I was locked out of my business, received zero income, and lost the business that I was so passionate about and that gave me so much daily joy. There were days I cried all day long. There were days I couldnāt get out of bed. There were days I screamed at my lawyers. But I was determined to fight for whatās right and to fight for my business which was like my third child. I loved it so much. It felt like a death having it stolen from me.
The fight took almost 3 years of my life! All the while having zero income and being continually harassed by my ex. He stole my car. No child support was paid to help me. I was being set out to be destroyed. Just like what was told was going to happen to me.
Finally after fighting for almost 3 years in and out of court, talking to my lawyers daily, stress beyond what I ever thought was possibleā¦..the court awarded me full 100% of my business back. I was BEYOND ecstatic!!!
I thought that would be the end.
Nope! The men that all had control of Premier Look wouldnāt release control back to me. So it was either more fighting in court or I had to make a decision to let my baby I fought so hard for go.
I made the decision. I made the decision to let Premier Look go and to start over. I cried. I felt like I lost a loved one. I had this hole in my heart feeling. But I picked myself up and started working. Started designing a new website, started to get everything I needed to in place to rebuild my business, while at the same time rebuilding my life.
I needed to prove to myself I can do this. I needed to do this for my kids.
And this is when SkinTruth.com was born. I needed the word TRUTH in the name. That word has come to have so much meaning to me. I fought for the truth for 3 years. Truth is everything.
Now today, SkinTruth.com is 3 years old! Itās the anniversary of the date I launched and rebuilt myself! I never thought I could run an entire business by myself, but guess what I did it! I was scared at first trust me! But I took it day by day and when youāre determined enough you just do it. Thankfully I have an amazing support system and team around me too that Iām so grateful for! My now husband who has supported me on my darkest days. My kids. My kids who are the reason I never gave up. And my amazing team at the Skin Truth office who I can count on and who have helped me through many hurdles.
Today is not just Skin Truthās 3rd anniversary. Today is also the day I overcame. I proved to myself and my kids that you can never give up. That you can do anything you put your mind to.
I am stronger today than I ever thought I could be! I am a different person than I was years ago. I love the person I am today. I am proud of the woman I became and who I am today!
And to all of you have been with me over the years, thank YOU!! You have no idea what your support, and sweet comments, and just being here on this social media community we built did for me during the worst and hardest time of my life. You helped me stay strong and I am forever grateful for each and every one of you!
