Jeffrey Perera: I grew up in Sri Lanka when I immigrated to New York at the age of 11. I found my passion for Biology during my childhood, running through my grandfather's poultry farm that coexisted with jungle and exploring my hometown's fish harbor. Having attended an IB/AP high school in Florida, pursuing STEM-related fields was emphasized. However, I found it surprising that it wasn't until college that I had met and spoken to an actual scientist. I thought that rapid-fire styled interview sessions with leader's in modern day science would be a great way to give young students a glimpse into the personal stories of scientists.
Timothy: I grew up in Jacksonville, FL and tackled college at a young age through the Early College Program. I recently graduated with a degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of North Florida. I found my passion for medicine while working as a Certified Nurse Assistant and was inspired by Dr. Damon Tweedy's book Black Man in a White Coat.
