The very first literary mention of the Faroes was by the Irish monk and geographer, Dicuil, in his work, "De mensura Orbis terrae" (written in Latin, of course). The phrase "Causa Latronum Normannorum" (because of Norse raiders) is taken directly from this work, where he mentions that his "brothers" from Scotland tell him about islands to the north. This song speculates about the feeling of the arrival of the Norse and the monks fleeing from their wrath.
