Hi, Jared here, and I could use your help!

I'm working on a series of beginner guitar lessons and I'd REALLY appreciate hearing from you.

If you're up for helping me out with some info about your guitar journey, please answer any of the simple questions below.

You can reply in the comments.

IF YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF A BEGINNER:
1. What is your biggest challenge as a beginner on the guitar?
2. What is your main goal, motivation, or dream related to learning the guitar?

IF YOU DO NOT CONSIDER YOURSELF A BEGINNER:
3. What do you wish you knew as a beginner, or what would have helped you to know sooner?
4. What was your biggest frustration when you were starting out?

Thanks a million for any insights you can provide!

Your answers will be beneficial not just for me, but for all the students that might learn from these upcoming lessons :)

In gratitude 🙏
- Jared

P.S.
Much of the beginner lesson materials I create will be free here on YouTube, and some will be packaged into a beginner course that will launch at the end of November. If you happen to be interested in the course, make sure you're on my email list to get the announcements about it. You can sign up here: www.soundguitarlessons.com/store. And no worries if that's not your thing! :)

UPDATE: I'm no longer posting clips from longer lessons. Instead, I'm filming daily short lesson videos (1 minute or less) directly for the vertical video format. I find this approach to be much more fun, rewarding, easier to make, and best of all, more effective for students. :)

Hi there! Jared here. I wanted to give you a little behind-the-scenes update on one of the projects that we’ve been working on here at Sound Guitar Lessons.

A couple weeks ago, I posted a poll on YouTube asking my audience whether or not I should start a new channel for posting daily, short-form vertical video highlights taken from my weekly lesson videos.

Out of over 200 votes, almost 80% of the responses said to keep everything together in one place by posting the vertical videos on my main channel. If you weighed in on this, thanks so much for your feedback! Hearing your opinion was extremely helpful.

I was hesitant to jump on the short-form vertical video bandwagon because longer, more in-depth material is much more my jam. That being said, I have quite a large archive of past videos and many of them include teaching moments that I think would be inspiring and educational for guitarists to see as individual, bite-sized lessons.

With the help of a couple amazing new team members (who are also dear friends), I’m embarking on a major project where we comb through past lesson videos and extract shareable moments from them to post as vertical videos on various platforms (YouTube shorts, Instagram and Facebook reels, Tiktok).

This operation is still in the very early stages. Right now we’re focused on consistency and on making sure that the ongoing project is sustainable and enjoyable. As we continue, we’ll be hyper-focused on trying to improve the quality of the video clips to make sure they’re as effective as possible in providing clear educational or inspirational value.

That all being said, my weekly, long-form lessons are still my top priority and I would never do anything to jeopardize my commitment to publishing those videos every Tuesday :)

Thanks for reading! If you’d like to see more behind-the-scenes updates in the future, please leave a comment and let me know. There’s always a lot going on on the other side of the curtain to keep SGL going and I’d be happy to share about those things more often if people are interested.

And if you’ve ever learned anything from any of my lessons then I consider you to be a part of this community and I deeply appreciate you! 🙏

That’s all for now. Much love and happy practicing 🎸🎵

Hi there! Quick question. Your answer will be very helpful. I'm starting to post shorts every day, mostly as clips taken from my weekly long-form lessons. Should I post these to my main channel, or start a new channel just for the short, daily vertical video clips?

New video up!

I hope you're doing well and that you're safe and healthy.

I had a rough week recovering from COVID but I'm feeling a million times better now.

I'm working on finishing up my YouTube series about playing classical guitar without nails, and as part of my research I reached out to one of the foremost experts on the subject, Rob MacKillop.

Rob was very generous. We recorded an hour long interview and it was amazing!

BUT most of the audio turned out to be unusable due to an unfortunate error :/

However, some of it was okay, so I grabbed a little piece of it to share with you this week.

This is a clip from the interview where Rob drops some serious wisdom about finding and protecting your unique voice as a musician.

It's a short and light little video that I hope will induce some reflection and provide some comfort and inspiration.

Heyyy there, New video lesson up today!

Title: How to Sound Country on Guitar | Get that country guitar bending sound

Description:
I publish a guitar lesson video every week and this week's lesson is on how to get that sweet country guitar bending sound.
This is such an impactful sound that I was tempted to call it "How to fake sounding like a pro country guitarist".
If you're interested in lead guitar of any kind I think you'll enjoy this.
It's a simple, lighthearted lesson that will give you something fun to play with right away.

I hope you enjoy!
